Barad-Dur Hand-Dyed Hemp Sliver (Not All Who Wander Are Lost collection)
Hand-dyed fiber braid from the Not All Who Wander Are Lost collection, Barad-Dur is dyed on hemp fiber. One of the more famous bast fibers, hemp is growing in popularity again in recent years after spending some decades in the shadows. Hemp is a strong, hard-wearing fiber processed from a fast-growing and hardy plant, and its growing presence in the fiber arts world is well deserved! Note: This sliver came to me with a large amount of non-fiber vegetable matter (sticks and similar items) in it, most of which I removed in the course of further processing, but you may discover an occasional undesirable bit when spinning. Be warned!
Full of browns and grays leavened only by an occasional magma-orange glow, the home of the dark lord does not put forward a welcoming face. And in this case, appearances are very much not deceiving! Photos are taken in natural light with as much color fidelity as possible, but please remember that screens vary, so from one device to another it may appear slightly different.
3 oz each.
All my fibers are dyed in a smoke free, pet friendly home.
If you are interested in a larger quantity or would like to purchase Barad-Dur on a different fiber base, please reach out to me! I’d be thrilled to dye up a batch to order.
