Hand-dyed fiber braid, hemp fiber. One of the more famous bast fibers, hemp is growing in popularity again in recent years after spending some decades in the shadows. Hemp is a strong, hard-wearing fiber processed from a fast-growing and hardy plant, and its growing presence in the fiber arts world is well deserved! Note: This sliver came to me with a large amount of non-fiber vegetable matter (sticks and similar items) in it, most of which I removed in the course of further processing, but you may discover an occasional undesirable bit when spinning. Be warned!
