Fiber batt made using hand-dyed fibers, Metamorphoses consists of 95% wool (Romney/Cheviot cross, Columbia/Rambouillet cross, CVM) processed from raw, regionally-sourced fleeces and 5% bamboo. The Romney/Cheviot used in this blend is a strong wool with striking lock structure and wavy crimp, while the Columbia/Rambouillet and CVM fleeces are softer, finer-crimp locks. These work together to provide both durability and a great hand to yarns produced from the blend.
Metamorphoses is a blend of marbled pinks and blues floating in a sea of soft white. If pressed, I would be unable to nail down whether this colorway and its name was more inspired by Ovid’s Metamorphoses, the metamorphic nature of marble as a stone, or the allusion to blue-and-pink as trans colors emblematic of metamorphosis - but perhaps apropos, it ends up a synthesis of all of the above.
