Faerie Gold Handspun sport weight yarn
Handspun yarn in weight 2/fine/sport, 450 yards and a smidge under 6 ounces, spun from a medium-weight wool in two plies. The yarn measures 14 wpi, in the gray area between sport weight and DK weight. While I have classed it as a sport weight, it would work well in many DK projects as well.
As anyone schooled in folklore knows, accepting gold from the fae is always done at one’s own risk - faerie favors are never free from strings, after all. But in this case the strings are pretty straightforward: When you come back tomorrow, that gleaming gold will have turned to a litter of leaves in the bottom of your purse. Best steer clear, then, and stick to leaving them fresh milk and bread and expecting nothing in return but to be left in peace. Fear not, however: The yarn is free from any geas or obligation.
This yarn is finished with a Z twist, meaning it may feel more natural to crocheters and Continental knitters than the majority of commercial yarns - but English knitters needn’t feel left out; it can be knitted that way too! As for weaving, it would make a lovely weft and is suitable for many warps.
Photos are taken in natural light with as much color fidelity as possible, but please remember that screens vary, so from one device to another it may appear slightly different. However, the item shown is the item you will receive.
Yarn is wrapped in a hank. Caking is available upon request.
All my fibers are spun and dyed in a smoke free, pet friendly home.
Care instructions: hand wash finished items in cool to lukewarm water, with gentle detergent or baby shampoo. Do not subject to harsh scrubbing/wringing or sudden temperature shocks when wet unless felting is desired. Reshape and dry flat.
This is a one of a kind item. If you are interested in a larger quantity or would like to purchase Faerie Gold in another format or on a different fiber base, please reach out to me! I’d be thrilled to spin and/or dye up a batch to order. It will obviously vary to an extent from this skein, but the spirit will remain the same.
